The Directorate-General for Translation at the European Commission in Brussels
organized a two day Conference on Clear Writing for Europe May 23-24, 2023.
Professionals working with information discussed during the conference different ways
how accessible language can enhance democracy.
Ulla Bohman held a workshop together with Idastiina Valtasalmi from Finland
on the topic Information design and clear language for different literacy levels.
Focus for the workshop was the key words Find-Read-Understand and
the four components of Easy Language; content, language, layout and illustrations.
Idastiina shared her studies about what easy words are.
Participants came from all over Europe, present in Brussels or online.
Lots of exchange of experience, ideas and lots of networking that hopefully
will lead to an accessible language which makes our democracies stronger.
