Purpose of the project

The main objective of this project is to raise awareness of Easy Language documents
so that people with disability can make informed decisions which affect their everyday lives.
The main activities of this project are that of:

  • Conducting a research on the importance of good quality Easy Language documents
and a set of guidelines on how to develop easy language document
  • Developing 3 certified training modules targeting service providers
on how to use the guidelines and develop Easy Language documents.
  • Testing the training modules through train the trainer sessions
    in both Malta and Greece.

Research

CRPD and Puzzle have conducted research on the importance of Easy Language.
This research is that of a qualitative research method to identify
the importance of having good quality Easy Language documents.
Two surveys have been conducted one for persons with disability
and another for service providers.

CRPD have reach 28 respondents for the survey of service providers
whilst Puzzle have reached 20 respondents.
On the other hand for the survey of persons with an intellectual disability
both CRPD and Puzzle SE have reached 10 respondents respectively.

Two reports have been drafted one with all the data
gathered from the survey for service providers whilst
another report has been drafted on the data gathered
from the survey of persons with intellectual disability.

The main finding which emerged from both survey’s is
the need to create training programs for all staff members
in the creation of easy language documents
and to raise awareness about the importance of easy language
within the organisation and among the individuals served.
The reports will be on  CRPD’s website in the coming weeks.
